The boats have sailed – the Latest Album by Lisa Monde.

The Boats Have Sailed, the new album by Lisa Monde, comprises 12 compositions, eight of which are famous world hits, written at different time by such famous composers of ХХ century as Charles Aznavour, Michel Lergrand, Freddy Mercury, Juan Carlos Riverra and others. Three songs were not only sung, but also written by Lisa Monde herself. They are: Birds, Disappearance and Jerusalem.
The name to the album was given by Aznavour’s song, The Boats Have Sailed, which does not belong to his most well known ones. Label: Elephant Records, USA, 2006. The producer of the project, V. Tonoyan, met with maestro Aznavour in person, and got his approval concerning the choice of the songs. Aznavour also noted that it was the first time when as much as three songs, written by him, were included into one album and all three of them were sung in different languages: English, French and Spanish. He asked to send him a disc when it is ready.
When Lisa is asked, what song she thinks to be the best on the disc, she usually answers that quite unexpectedly for her, it was The Boats Have Sailed that happened to become the best one: its music is great, and the words are fantastically beautiful and romantic, and the mood, mood… well, she thinks that she has managed to render it.
However, producer Tonoyan thinks that the best song of the album is the composition from Les parapluies de Cherbourg, an old French film. It bwas sung by Lisa together with Enrique Nunes, a popular composer and singer from Cuba. It is interesting to mention, that 50 years ago the song was also written by a Cuban.
Besides Nunes, also the Novel Voz group took part in recording - they sang together with Lisa Monde three songs: Love of My Life, The Girl from Ipanema, What a Wonderful World (it was sung a capella) – as well as Juan Carlos Riverra (songs Morir de Amor and Dissappearance).
The album was highly appreciated by one of initiators of Bossa Nova style, Brazilian composer Joao Donato, and his own words, addressed to Lisa monde, became the album’s epigraph.
